Everyone has their own quarks and preferences when it comes to learning or taking up something new. My challenge for you this summer, is to break the routine and to try something a bit out of your comfort zone. It will be alarming at first, simply because it’s new. But trust me, it’ll be worth it.
Join a group class! Why you ask? Well it does have its benefits…
Don’t be shy! This is a great opportunity to meet new people that are interested in the same things as you. And who knows, maybe you’ll find your new BFF in this class! You never know until you try. Plus, after making new friends in this course, you’ll slowly begin to hold each other accountable for each other’s goals. You’ll find yourself checking in on your teammates and talking to them about your frustrations and motivations. Not only that, but you’ll help teach each other patience and practice- helping build a strong mental foundation for pushing your body.
Having a group class can also get really fun with the fitness activities involved. Sparring, for example, with one another is far more interesting than punching a single bag all day, right?! The classes can also get fun with the competitive nature of some students. Competitive behavior can indeed be a big motivator, especially when you are sparring with one another in real time.
Lastly, you’ll get to get out of the house and do something fun with people who care about your health as much as you do. The Trainers available are always there to help make you more comfortable and are there to provide support wherever you may feel your confidence is lacking.
A strong team vibe, a reason to leave the house, a chance to better your health, and a group of people who are looking to be the best version of themselves- like you. I’d say that’s reason enough to want to join a group session at the gym.
