BE REALISTIC

People tend to dream big when it comes to setting goals or resolutions, which then in turn makes it quite difficult to follow through. Setting the bar too high can always make it difficult to reach. So be realistic! Start small!

When creating a goal for yourself, first think about where you presently are at and how long it’ll take to get to where you want to be. If losing weight is your intention, keep in mind losing 15lbs in two weeks isn’t healthy and can be near impossible to reach. If running a marathon is your goal and you’ve never raced before, keep in mind that running 5 miles without stopping for the first couple of weeks isn’t as easy as it looks! Just be mindful of your body and its limits.

Be sure that your intentions of these goals are pure. If you’re doing something with a poor mindset, the results can be mentally trying and you can end up having an internal battle with yourself and your goal. If you’re going to do something, make sure it’s by your own will to be the best YOU, you can be for YOURSELF.

Cost is another thing to keep in mind for goal making. Starting a new fitness goal or wellness goal can get expensive. The purchasing of new clothes, shoes, equipment, vitamins, water bottles, can all add up very quickly. So just be mindful of your budget and thrift where you can!

Lastly, be accountable of your progress and digressions. This goal is for you and it’s for you to motivate and track your progress each step of the way. Keep in mind that no one else is to blame when you choose to eat those cheese fries instead of leaf greens as your side at dinner. Do it for you!
