VEGAN APPLE PIE SMOOTHIE

This year has blown by and summer is nearing its end. You know what that means? Apple Season! So of course, we’re all dreaming of the delicious comfort foods that follow these cooler temperatures. But be weary! Sweets and sugary desserts can cause fatigue and weight gain.

An Apple a day keeps the doctor away… well, it at least tries to anyway. While it may not be a miracle fruit, it is however chalk full of tons of wonderful nutrients to help keep you healthy! For example, apples are made up of plant chemicals called flavonoids that help aid in digestion. The added fiber can slow digestion so you feel fuller after eating too, which can keep you from overeating. Eating fiber-rich foods helps control symptoms and lessens the effects of acid reflux and can also help with diarrhea and constipation. Overall, it’s fantastic for your tummy!

Apples also help boost your immune system, thanks to their large sources of Vitamin C. And of course, apples are low in calories and sodium.

Check out this delicious recipe to help keep your cravings under control and get your fall fixes!

Notes

  • Freeze down your apples. That’s right be ahead of the smoothie game by freezing some chopped up apples. Buy a bunch of them and stick them straight in the freezer so you are fully prepared.
  • Add whatever ingredients you want to before whipping up your smoothie.
  • I don’t recommend preparing this overnight, it works best on the day at the same time.
  • If you don’t to include dates, leave them out or add a splash of maple syrup instead.
